HOW GET ORGANIC
My dear brothers and sisters!
Today I am going to talk about how to get the organic
certificate from the Tamil Nadu organic certification department.
The Tamil Nadu organic certification department is in charge
of giving Organic Certificates to organic farmers of Tamil Nadu. It was
established in the year 2017, it is located in Guindy Chennai of Tamil Nadu.
The TNOCD is the organic certification body accredited by APEDA,
Ministry of Commerce and industry, Government of India.The director of TNOCD is also the director of Seed
Certification Department Tamil Nadu.
The agricultural officers are posted as organic
certification Inspectors, with the specific jurisdictions inside the state of Tamil
Nadu.
The Organic products certified by this department are
equivalent to European standards and are eligible for export.
The certification program consists of three steps that are,
registration, field inspection and grant of certificates.
Any organic farmer can register himself with the department
of organic certification.
For getting this certificate a sum of Rs.500/ to be paid as
registration fee for small farmers, and Rs.1000 for the rest of the medium and
big farmers. A sum of Rs.1000/ needs to
be paid towards inspection and
certification, and a sum of Rs.200 rupees towards travel cost.
Similarly, Rs.5000/ is charged here for a corporate company.
And Rs 2000 to be paid for inspection and certification, and a sum of Rs.400
needs to be paid as travel cost.
Now I will tell you about the area under organic farming in Tamil
Nadu.
In 2015-16 it was 29,617acres, in 2016-17 it was 29,720acres
in 2017-18 it was 24,728, in 2019 and 20
it was 22812 acres, and in 2021 - 22 it was 1,15,197 acres, after that I don't
have any data with me.
